We wrap up A Prodigal Week by celebrating the arrival of an SL we'd actually want to own, rejoicing at Sony's belligerence, and drooling over a Pussy piece. Welcome to the weekend.
As a former R129 owner, who for a short period realised those teenage aspirations I too applaud the design of the new SL (particularly in that chalky grey colour).
However I cannot reconcile with the new Range Rover. A massive missed opportunity to do something truly ground breaking in terms of the brand. The size, scale & weight, period before fully electric, small hybrid battery etc. etc. is in my view incompatible with the current zeitgeist for electric / eco focussed living and a missed opportunity. Pity because it is a smart looking car.
I prefer the Mercedes R107 over the R129, but I have to say that the new version of the SL is definitely looking like a modern classic already.
I’m also a big IWC fan but tactical black editions not so much.
